2018 Toyota C-HR Goes on Sale at Toyota Dealerships Next Spring: 2016 New York Auto Show

TORRANCE, California — The 2018 Toyota C-HR, a new compact crossover, will go on sale at Toyota dealerships in the U.S. in spring 2017, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. announced ahead of the 2016 New York Auto Show.

The Toyota C-HR Concept vehicle will be on display in the Big Apple.

The U.S. production version of the C-HR will be shown later this year. Technical specifications will be available at that time. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.

Toyota revealed the production model for the European market at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show.

The C-HR will compete in the small, affordable crossover category against such vehicles as the Chevrolet Trax, Ford Escape, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade and Mazda CX-3.

"The style and substance of the production C-HR will make it a winner in the hottest segment in the industry," said Bill Fay, Toyota Division group vice president, in a statement.

The name stands for "Compact" and "High Ride," Toyota said.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers making long-range plans may want to consider the Toyota C-HR. But there are plenty of other good choices out there in the meantime.
