2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Alltrack Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The all-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Alltrack earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale this fall at Volkswagen dealerships, the four-wheel-drive Alltrack received four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, automatic post-collision braking system and an Intelligent Crash Response System.

Optional driver-assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the Alltrack.

Key Alltrack competitors include the Audi allroad and Subaru Outback.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2017 Audi allroad and Subaru Outback have not been rated yet by NHTSA.
