2017 Porsche 911 Commercial Defines True Meaning of Competition

ATLANTA, Georgia — A new 2017 Porsche 911 commercial that suggests the German sports car has no rivals is on the way to going viral with over 1.3 million YouTube views in just a few days.

The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S will be on display at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show and arrive at Porsche dealerships in April.

"The message communicated by the Porsche commercial is, only the best have a chance against the best," Porsche said in a statement. "Only a Porsche 911 can beat a Porsche 911."

In reality, car shoppers may also consider the Audi R8, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Jaguar F-Type.

Porsche enlisted a roster of stars, including tennis great and Porsche spokeswoman Maria Sharapova, boxing legend Muhammad Ali and chess world champion Magnus Carlsen, to make its case.

The commercial is dubbed "Compete."

It debuted on U.S. television over the weekend and will be shown on TV in nearly 20 countries later this month. Porsche also posted a YouTube video providing a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the commercial.

Edmunds says: Porsche pits the 911 against the 911, hoping that car shoppers will venture no further than their Porsche dealership.
