2017 Kia Sportage To Debut at 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show

SEOUL, South Korea — The 2017 Kia Sportage is prepared to target such major players as the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V, according to a preview of the SUV ahead of its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Kia showed off three sketches of the redesigned Sportage, which features a new nose, repositioned headlights and a higher beltline.

"Entering its fourth generation, the all-new Sportage features a bold, progressive design, which exudes power and agility from every angle," Kia said in a statement.

Kia promised the new Sportage will feature its "highest-quality cabin to date."

U.S. launch timing and pricing were not announced.

The 2016 Sportage, which carries over with minor enhancements, is on sale now at Kia dealerships.

Other key Sportage rivals include the Mazda CX-5 and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

The formal unveiling of the 2017 Sportage is set for September 15.

Edmunds says: Kia's premium aspirations are evident in the early look of the 2017 Sportage.
