2017 Jaguar XE To Arrive at U.S. Dealerships in Spring 2016

MAHWAH, New Jersey — The all-new 2017 Jaguar XE will arrive at U.S. Jaguar dealerships in spring 2016, Jaguar Land Rover said, as it provided more details on its all-new compact sports sedan.

Pricing has not been announced.

The XE is a critical vehicle for luxury car shoppers who are concerned about fuel economy, since it will be the first Jaguar in the U.S. to offer a diesel engine.

The lineup will include the Jaguar XE 20d model powered by the automaker's new Ingenium 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque. The EPA has not posted official fuel economy numbers for the 2017 Jaguar XE.

The XE 20d sprints from zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 140 mph.

Jaguar Land Rover said the XE 20d will be the brand's most fuel-efficient model.

The 2017 Jaguar XE 35t is equipped with the top engine choice, a 340-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.

Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will be available on both versions, in addition to rear-wheel drive.

The Jaguar XE 20d and 35t models come in Premium, Prestige and R-Sport trim levels.

Safety systems include adaptive cruise control, closing vehicle sensing and blind-spot monitoring, as well as All Surface Progress Control, a sophisticated traction-control system. This system works between 2 mph and 19 mph and is designed to deliver optimum traction in slippery conditions.

Key competitors to the XE include the Audi A4/S4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers get some important details about the upcoming 2017 Jaguar XE.
