2017 GMC Terrain Nightfall Edition Arrives at Dealerships This Fall

NEW YORK — The 2017 GMC Terrain Nightfall Edition, a special version of the compact crossover SUV with blacked-out details, debuted ahead of the 2016 New York Auto Show.

It will go on sale at GMC dealerships this fall. Pricing will be announced later.

GMC said it is aiming for an "edgy appearance" with the Terrain Nightfall Edition.

Monochromatic black and vehicles with blacked-out features are a growing trend in the auto industry.

They include everything from the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Midnight Edition, which is offered only in black, to the new Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost and Wraith cars.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima SR Midnight Edition is yet another vehicle with a darker side, while GMC also offers a Canyon Nightfall Edition.

The Terrain Nightfall includes 18-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels with gloss black spokes and a charcoal grille.

It is offered only on Terrain SLE-2 and SLT models.

Four exterior color choices are Summit White, Onyx Black, Graphite Gray Metallic and Crimson Red Metallic.

Technology features include optional 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Key Terrain rivals include the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and Mitsubishi Outlander.

Edmunds says: The Terrain Nightfall should draw new buyers into showrooms.
