The "bold hood design hints at what lies beneath," GMC said in a statement.
The redesigned Sierra Denali 2500HD features a functional hood scoop, hinting at powertrain changes. The Sierra is GMC's flagship truck.
No other details were released.
GMC spokeswoman Kelly Wysocki told Edmunds that pricing will be announced closer to the truck's launch date.
The standard engine in all 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD models is a 6.0-liter FlexFuel V8 rated at 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.
A Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel is available across the lineup. It delivers 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.
