2017 GMC Acadia Teased Ahead of 2016 Detroit Auto Show

DETROIT — The all-new 2017 GMC Acadia SUV, which targets the Dodge Durango, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, will be a key General Motors unveiling at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

GMC tweeted a teaser photo of the rear of the 2017 Acadia on Thursday, showing redesigned taillights and a clean look.

IHS Automotive's Detroit auto show preview report said analysts expect to see Acadia production shift from Lansing Delta Township, Michigan to GM's factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The plant is also home to the 2017 Cadillac XT5.

The Acadia is expected to use a version of that platform.

"The move is designed to provide further separation from the Chevrolet Traverse, but also suggests a five-seat package instead of seven and a somewhat smaller product," the report said.

The 2016 Acadia is on sale now at GMC dealerships.

It is a carryover vehicle with modest changes, including the addition of OnStar 4G LTE and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. New exterior colors include Ebony Twilight Metallic and White Frost Tricoat.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers are still crazy for big trucks and SUVs, so expect this debut to be closely watched.
