The Dream Cruise has become something of a rolling auto show — and not just limited to classic cars. It's a chance for automakers to show off new and future products.
The Chevrolet display at the junction of Woodward and Old Woodward in Birmingham will be the site of the first public reveal of the 2016 Camaro and Camaro Convertible. As previously reported by Edmunds, these models — arriving at dealerships later this year and early in 2016, respectively — had previously only been seen live at private events in Detroit.
Also at the display will be the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Volt, with extended range and a lower price compared to the previous model, as well as a 2015 Colorado midsize pickup, 2015 SS performance sedan, 1929 Landau, 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air in coupe and convertible versions, and a 1971 Cheyenne pickup.
The Chevrolet Performance exhibit, at the corner of Woodward and Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, will feature a variety of speed-oriented vehicles, including a 2015 Corvette Z06 and 2015 Camaro Z/28, as well historical models like a 1967 Camaro, a hot-rodded 1967 Nova and a 1988 Monte Carlo.
Chevy is also sponsoring the Camaro Corral at the Pleasant Ridge City Hall, where Camaro owners will display up to 150 examples of all generations of the iconic model throughout the weekend.
Meanwhile, at the official Dodge display on the corner of Woodward and 13 Mile Road, visitors can check out the latest models, including Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats, the new limited-edition Plum Crazy Challengers and Chargers, the Dart GT, Durango SUV, Journey Crossroad compact SUV and the outrageous, track-oriented 2016 Dodge Viper ACR.
Other Fiat-Chrysler models on display include the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Wrangler Hard Rock Rubicon, the Fiat 500X crossover, 500L Urbana, 500 1957 Edition and 500 Abarth, as well as a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Chrysler 300 that will feature 2015 and 1955 models of the Chrysler luxury sedan.
For those who want to do more than look, Dodge is also offering Drag-n-Drift thrill rides with a professional driver on a closed course in Vipers and Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats.
The Ford Performance exhibit at Woodward and Nine Mile Road will celebrate the brand's go-fast models with a display that will include the 2017 GT supercar, scheduled to arrive next year, as well as the latest models, like the 2016 Mustang Shelby GT350 and the F-150 Raptor performance pickup truck.
And once again Ford is sponsoring Mustang Alley, one of the largest single-day gatherings of Mustangs anywhere, near its display on Woodward. Mustang Alley will feature examples of the quintessential pony car from its beginnings in 1964 through the latest models.
Edmunds says: Fans of Detroit iron will find no shortage of entertainment at the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise.
