2017 Fiat 124 Spider Video Provides Bird's Eye View of New Droptop

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Convertible shoppers may want to check out two new online videos of the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider before heading out to Fiat dealerships this summer.

Fiat said it is aiming to reach "new heights" with its "Free Like a Bird" video that uses an eagle to capture footage of the car.

Wyclef Jean provided the music for the unusual video that Fiat said is "co-directed by eagles." A tiny Sony Action cam was placed onto three white-tailed eagles during the shoot.

A second Fiat 124 Spider video is dubbed "No Blue Pill Needed." It is a take-off on Fiat's 2015 Super Bowl commercial "Blue Pill."

Fiat-Chrysler notes that the original "Blue Pill" commercial for the Fiat 500X SUV has over 30 million views on YouTube.

The Fiat 124 Spider shares a rear-wheel-drive platform with the redesigned 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata convertible.

Key competitors to the Fiat 124 Spider include the Audi TT, Mini Cooper Roadster and Porsche Boxster.

Edmunds says: The revival of the Fiat roadster after a nearly 50-year absence here gets a boost from two intriguing new videos.
