2017 Chevrolet Silverado High Desert Slated for Dealerships This Fall

DETROIT — The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado High Desert, which adds a new cargo system, will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships this fall.

Pricing will be announced closer to the truck's launch date.

This is the latest special-edition Silverado, joining such versions as the Silverado Rally Edition, High Country and Realtree Edition.

The High Desert package is available on Silverado LT, LTZ and High Country trim levels.

"The High Desert package blends the capability and utility of Silverado with the refinement and luxury of Suburban," said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing, in a statement. "It's ideal for those customers who want both the security of a lockable cargo area, as well as the flexibility of a pickup truck bed."

The cargo system includes dual side storage bins and a three-piece hard tonneau cover. A cargo divider can be raised to secure smaller items or lowered to access the full length of the bed floor.

The package features 20-inch wheels with all-season tires; 22-inch wheels and all-terrain tires are optional on LTZ and High Country models.

The High Desert model is offered with Magnetic Ride Control suspension, which provides a smoother ride.

Key Silverado competitors include the Ford F-150, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra.

Edmunds says: Chevrolet continues to roll out special versions of the Silverado designed to provide buyers with a custom look and feel for their truck.
