2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Arrives at Dealerships This Summer: 2016 Geneva Auto Show

GENEVA — The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport coupe and convertible will go on sale this summer at U.S. Chevrolet dealerships following a world debut at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show.

Pricing will be announced closer to the car's launch date.

A Grand Sport Collector Edition, with an exclusive Watkins Glen Gray Metallic exterior and Tension Blue graphics, will arrive later in the model year, General Motors said on Tuesday.

The latest version of the seventh-generation Corvette is equipped with a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine rated at 460 horsepower and either a seven-speed manual transmission or optional eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Grand Sport model adds several upgrades designed for track use.

They include Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires, Brembo brakes, standard magnetic ride control and an electronic limited-slip differential.

The Corvette Grand Sport can also be ordered with Corvette's Z07 performance package that adds carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 summer tires and a carbon-fiber aero package.

GM said the Grand Sport with the Z07 package is less than 1 second off the track record for the previous-generation Corvette ZR1 on the road course at GM's Milford Proving Ground.

Key Corvette competitors include the Audi R8, Dodge SRT Viper and Porsche 911.

Edmunds says: Chevy brings some major American muscle to the Geneva auto show.
