2017 Chevrolet Camaro With 1LE Packages Arrives at Dealerships in Late 2016

CHICAGO — The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro with the new 1LE packages will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships in late 2016, following a debut this week at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.

The first performance packages for the sixth-generation Camaro will be available on the 2017 Camaro SS and LT V6 coupes with manual transmissions.

Pricing and performance data will be announced closer to launch date, Chevrolet said.

The packages are "for enthusiasts looking for a daily driver and a weekend track car," said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet marketing, during a media unveiling.

The 1LE packages are designed to boost the Camaro's appeal, especially for car shoppers also considering such competitors as the Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Nissan 370Z.

Exterior 1LE cues on V6 and V8 models include a satin black hood and specific wheels.

For the first time, the 1LE package will be offered on Camaro 1LT or 2LT coupes equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 engine. Chevrolet emphasized that the package on the "V6 is not a compromise."

Details include more aggressive suspension tuning, standard Brembo brakes and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Options include Recaro seats and a performance data recorder.

The 1LE package for Camaro SS models includes magnetic ride control, with new FE4 suspension tuning and a new electronic limited-slip differential. Recaro seats are standard. Options include a performance data recorder.

The 2017 Camaro LT 1LE is equipped with a 335-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine linked to a six-speed manual transmission.

The 2017 Camaro SS 1LE gets the 455-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission.

Edmunds says: Performance goes mainstream on the 2017 Camaro with the new track packages rolling out on both V6 and V8 models.
