2017 Buick Encore Earns 5-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The updated 2017 Buick Encore SUV earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale at Buick dealerships this fall, the 2017 Encore received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Encore.

Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability control with traction control, cornering brake control, brake assist, a rearview camera and 10 airbags.

Optional safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, side blind-zone alert, rear park assist, forward collision alert and lane departure warning.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2017 Encore.

Key Encore competitors include the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Volkswagen Tiguan.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2017 Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 also earned the top five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan earned a four-star safety rating.
