WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The 2017 BMW X5 luxury SUV is on the way to BMW dealerships with a starting price of $56,495.

The pricing includes a $995 destination charge and reflects an $800 increase over the base 2016 X5.

The top-of-the-line 2017 X5 xDrive50i is priced at $73,295, including destination fees.

This is a carryover vehicle with minimal changes for the new model year. They include a navigation system that is updated to iDrive 5.0 and standard touchscreen functionality for the iDrive display.

New xLine standard equipment includes stainless steel underbody cladding, silver matte exterior trim and roof rails in Satin Aluminum.

Atlas Cedar Metallic exterior paint is a new color.

The Premium package is upgraded with wireless charging and a Wi-Fi hot spot on the 35i, 35d and 40e models.

The 2017 X5 sDrive35i is equipped with a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Key competitors to the X5 include the Infiniti QX70, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne.

Edmunds says: Luxury SUV shoppers in this hot segment will see a modest price increase on the popular BMW X5.
