MARYSVILLE, Ohio — The 2017 Acura NSX edged closer to car shoppers' hands with the Thursday announcement that serial production of the hybrid coupe will begin in late April.
The handcrafted NSX is built at the all-new Performance Manufacturing Center, a high-tech facility in Marysville, Ohio.
Trial production has started, with an emphasis on world-class craftsmanship.
Honda said up to 11 coats of primer and paint, along with detailed hand polishing are a key part of the NSX build process.
Sixteen technicians "hand start each bolt on the NSX," Honda noted.
The car is subject to rigorous quality checks and every engine is broken in to the equivalent of 150 miles of service to ensure it is "track ready" upon customer delivery.
Edmunds says: The long wait for the NSX will be worth it, since Honda is striving for perfection.
