Car shoppers got a first look at the sporty R-Design on Thursday as the automaker released photos and a few details.
"The R-Design exterior includes a number of distinguishing details, such as grille, lower front spoiler, window in silk metal and a R-Design dual tailpipe surround," Volvo said.
Other details include bright roof rails and mirror covers in matte silver. Buyers can choose either 20-inch or optional 22-inch R-Design alloy wheels.
The cabin gets sports seats and a perforated leather steering wheel.
The R-Design will be one of three XC90 models available in the U.S. Volvo said there will be a choice of powertrains for the R-Design, up to 400 horsepower.
The redesigned SUV is proving to be a hot property. Volvo's release of 1,927 individually numbered black First Edition XC90s were snapped up in 47 hours.
