2016 Volkswagen Touareg Gets $2,000 Price Cut; Touareg Hybrid Discontinued

HERNDON, Virginia — The 2016 Volkswagen Touareg SUV is priced at $43,615, including a $910 destination charge, reflecting a $2,000 price cut over the base 2015 Touareg. Volkswagen of America said the Touareg Hybrid is discontinued for the 2016 model year.

On sale now at Volkswagen dealerships, the 2016 Touareg gets "minor content changes," according to VW.

The midrange 2016 Touareg Lux starts at $52,630, including shipping.

The top-of-the-line Touareg Executive V6 starts at $60,655, while the Executive TDI or diesel model starts at $64,155. Prices include shipping.

The price cut is designed to make the Touareg more competitive in a crowded segment that includes the Acura MDX, BMW X5 and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Changes to the 2016 Touareg include the addition of 14-way power adjustable ventilated seats on Lux and Executive models. Executive models also add a power-adjustable steering column, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and lane-departure warning.

The Driver Assistance package on Sport With Tech models adds Park Distance Control.

A new 21-inch wheel package is available on Lux and Executive models.

The 2016 Touareg is available with two powertrains: a V6 FSI gasoline engine and a V6 TDI Clean Diesel engine. Both are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual shifting.

VW updated the Touareg with a face-lift in 2015.

Edmunds says: A price cut on the Touareg is a good reason to visit your local VW showroom.
