Volkswagen spokesman Mark Gillies told Edmunds pricing will be announced closer to the car's launch date.
The restyled 2016 Jetta GLI gets a new front fascia designed to look more aggressive, along with a new rear bumper design with a diffuser and a pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. Rounding out the exterior look are 18-inch Mallory design aluminum-alloy wheels.
A new standard feature on the 2016 Jetta GLI is VW's automatic post-collision braking system. It applies the brakes when a primary collision is detected by the airbag sensors.
Cabin changes include a new MIB 2 infotainment system.
The Jetta GLI SE model is equipped with LED taillights, keyless access with pushbutton start, automatic dual-zone climate control, sunroof, six-way power driver's seat, a rearview camera, front and rear Park Distance Control, a Fender premium audio system, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and heated seats.
The GLI SEL adds blind-spot detection with rear-traffic alert, a navigation system, bi-xenon headlights with adaptive front lighting system and Homelink.
All versions of the Jetta GLI are equipped with a specially tuned sport suspension and the same 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine as the Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback.
Edmunds says: Pricing is expected to be announced by mid-summer, so car shoppers can check back here at that time for more information.
