PALO ALTO, California — The all-new 2016 Tesla Model X electric SUV will be priced as high as $144,950, according to Tesla enthusiast Web sites.
Tesla this week sent a link to a private configurator for the top-of-the-line 2016 Model X P90D Signature Series, but only to those who placed a $5,000 deposit and an early reservation on the crossover, according to Tesla Motors Club and other fan sites.
Some of those who received invitations posted information and images, including pricing, taken directly from the configurator.
Tesla did not respond immediately to a request for confirmation that the information and images are accurate.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the first Model X deliveries will begin in September.
According to information posted on Tesla Motors Club, the 2016 Model X P90D Signature Series will be priced at $133,200, including a $1,200 destination charge. With all three option packages, the price is $144,950. The pricing information was displayed in images taken from the private Tesla Model X configurator.
The configurator provided additional details: The 2016 Model X P90D will have all-wheel drive and dual motors, with the front motor rated at 259 horsepower and the rear motor at 503 hp. Top speed is 155 mph. Zero-60 mph acceleration will take 3.8 seconds. With the $10,000 Ludicrous Speed upgrade, the 0-60 time is trimmed to 3.2 seconds.
According to Tesla, with the 90 kWh battery pack, the EPA range between charges is 240 miles. The EPA has not posted range or MPGe numbers on the 2016 Model X.
Standard features on the 2016 Model X include so-called "falcon wing" rear doors, an automatically retracting rear spoiler, a rear hitch for a bike or ski carrier, navigation system with real-time traffic, power folding and heated side mirrors, keyless entry, parking sensors, blind spot warning and automatic emergency braking.
The 2016 Model X P90D Signature Series also bundles Autopilot with self-parking and automatic lane steering, smart air suspension, new turbine design wheels in 20- and 22-inch diameters, a high-fidelity sound system with satellite radio, a choice of interior colors and wood trim, ventilated leather seats with heating and cooling, flat-folding third-row seats for two adults and power liftgate.
The only options on the Signature Series are the Ludicrous Speed upgrade ($10,000), a Subzero Weather package ($1,000) and a Tow package ($750).
On its Web site, Tesla said new reservations for the Model X won't be fulfilled until early 2016.
