The fourth-generation Forester was redesigned for the 2015 model year. All 2016 Forester models feature Starlink, Subaru's in-vehicle platform that provides connectivity and entertainment services.

All Foresters come standard with all-wheel drive. The base Forester is equipped with a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and a six-speed manual transmission.

Key competitors to the Forester include the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Jeep Cherokee.
