NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The 2016 Nissan Titan's American roots are highlighted in a new YouTube video of the full-size pickup truck. Unfortunately, truck shoppers are still on hold when it comes to seeing the look of the redesigned Titan ahead of its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Nissan is touting the fact that the next-generation Titan is made in America, designed in California, engineered in Michigan, tested in Arizona and assembled in Canton, Mississippi.
The curious will see a quick glimpse of the frame and chassis, along with the new 5.0-liter Cummins diesel V8 engine.
The diesel-powered Titan will debut at a time when gasoline prices are significantly lower than diesel prices. The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report on Wednesday pegged the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.50 versus $3.36 for diesel.
Pricing and technical specifications for the 2016 Titan have not been released.
The new truck is expected to be available in extended-cab and crew-cab models. A gasoline V8 engine is also expected to be part of the lineup.
The Motor City event is shaping up to be a major truck event. The 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be unveiled on January 12, the same day as the wraps come off the Titan.
Edmunds says: The excitement continues to build for the unveiling of the redesigned Nissan Titan.
