WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The all-new 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible, a four-seat soft top, is bound for Mini dealerships in March, with a starting price of $26,800, including an $850 destination charge, Mini announced on Thursday.

Pricing is increased by $250 compared to the outgoing model.

Mini dealers are accepting pre-orders now.

The three- and four-cylinder engines with TwinPower turbocharging are mated to a base six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

Buyers will have a choice of 11 exterior colors, including the new Caribbean Aqua.

The 2016 Mini Cooper S Convertible starts at $30,450, while the top-of-the-line 2016 Mini Cooper John Cooper Works Convertible is priced at $36,450. Prices include shipping.

The Mini JCW Convertible will arrive at Mini dealerships in April.

Enthusiasts will likely have their eye on the Mini JCW Convertible, which is equipped with the most powerful engine ever installed in one of the brand's production models.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.

Details include a sports exhaust, a body kit with extra air inlets and an optional exclusive color dubbed Rebel Green.

Buyers can also select an embroidered Union Jack graphic for the convertible.

Key Mini Convertible competitors include the Fiat 500 Convertible and Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.

Edmunds says: With such a wide pricing spread, there's something for just about every drop-top shopper with the 2016 Mini Convertible.
