2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Gets Starring Role in Jurassic World

STUTTGART, Germany — Luxury buyers who have the all-new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe on their shopping lists can get a good look at the SUV/coupe-like vehicle in the summer blockbuster movie Jurassic World.

The GLE Coupe, which will arrive at U.S. Mercedes-Benz dealerships in late summer, does battle in the real world with the BMX X6, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne. But it will take on Indominus rex, a "fearsome" dinosaur, in the movie.

Jurassic World will feature a fleet of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, including the Unimog, which is cast as a "dinosaur ambulance."

A Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 SUV and Sprinter van are also in the spotlight.

"The fleet of Mercedes-Benz vehicles fit perfectly into Jurassic World," said producer Frank Marshall in a statement posted on the Mercedes-Benz Web site. "They are classy, sophisticated and sexy — exactly what would exist in a modern international theme park."

A special Jurassic World Web site provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie and how the cars were kept under wraps to add to the suspense.

In 1997, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class made an appearance in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Jurassic World model vehicles of the G-Glass and G 6x6 will be available later at the Mercedes-Benz Accessories online store and in toy retailers.

Jurassic World will be released on June 12.

Edmunds says: The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe showcases its off-road abilities in a major way in what is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
