NEW YORK — The 2016 McLaren Sports Series coupe will arrive at U.S. McLaren dealerships in the fourth quarter of this year, the automaker told Edmunds on Thursday. The car will be unveiled in April at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
"It is indeed road legal and will be our most accessible car to date," wrote JP Canton, a McLaren spokesman, in response to a query from Edmunds. "Pricing is TBD."
A 20-second teaser video released by McLaren shows the Sports Series during extreme cold-weather testing and dressed in winter camouflage.
As reported earlier by Edmunds, the Sports Series was code-named P13 and had been set for a debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. A price tag of around $200,000 and more practical features are likely to be hallmarks of the Sports Series. Coupe and convertible models are expected.
Edmunds says: Depending on how McLaren defines "accessible," this should be one of the more interesting unveilings in the Big Apple.
