2016 Lincoln MKS Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Lincoln MKS sedan earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Lincoln dealerships, the 2016 MKS received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the MKS.

The 2016 Lincoln MKS comes standard with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. Also standard is a MyKey feature that allows owners to set certain driving parameters for teen drivers. Sync also offers an emergency crash notification service that automatically dials 911 in the event of an airbag deployment.

Safety-related options include adaptive cruise control combined with a frontal-collision warning with brake support, along with blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems and lane-keeping assist.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has partially rated the 2016 MKS. It received a "good" score for its head restraints and seats.

Key MKS competitors include the Audi A6, Lexus GS 350 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Audi A6 also earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earned a four-star overall safety rating. The 2016 Lexus GS 350 has not been rated.
