TORRANCE, California — The 2016 Lexus IS sedan arrives at Lexus dealerships this fall with a new three-model strategy that includes the 2016 IS 200t, IS 300 AWD and IS 350 models.
The previous IS 250 models are discontinued.
The new 2016 IS 200t features a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive only.
The Lexus destination charge will increase by $15 with the start of the new model year.
The entry-level all-wheel-drive IS is now the new 2016 Lexus IS 300 AWD, priced at $40,640, including shipping. It is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine good for 255 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2016 Lexus IS 350 carries over, featuring a 306-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. It starts at $41,810, including shipping.
The top-of-the-line 2016 Lexus IS 350 AWD model is priced at $43,975, including shipping. It is equipped with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission and obviously all-wheel drive.
There are other, minor updates for 2016. IS 350 models feature standard 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel is available as a stand-alone option and a new Premium Plus package features automatic wipers and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.
An F Sport package is also available for all IS models. It bundles unique 18-inch wheels and special suspension tuning, along with special interior and exterior trim.
Edmunds says: A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes the entry Lexus IS a far more competitive sport sedan.
