2016 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography Set for Showroom Arrival This Fall

NEW YORK — The new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography flagship SUV will arrive at Land Rover dealerships this fall, starting at $200,490, Land Rover announced on Sunday. The SVAutobiography will debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

Pricing includes a $995 destination charge.

It replaces the Autobiography Black at the top of the Range Rover lineup and competes with high-end versions of the Audi Q7, Lexus LX 570 and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The SVAutobiography is produced by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations.

The company is calling it the "most luxurious and powerful series-production Range Rover in the model's successful 45-year history."

Exterior details include optional two-tone exterior paint in Santorini Black and nine color choices for the lower body. A new front grille is finished in Graphite Atlas and polished chrome. A new exhaust system adds quad polished chrome tailpipes.

The SVAutobiography features a 550-horsepower supercharged V8 engine linked to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Buyers can opt for a sliding wood luggage floor for easy loading and unloading. Cabin cues include a rear beverage chiller and mohair carpet mats.

Land Rover announced other updates for the 2016 Range Rover lineup.

They include the addition of a turbodiesel Range Rover HSE. The 3.0-liter Range Rover Td6 engine offers 254 hp and 28 mpg on the highway, according to the automaker.

Also new for the 2016 Range Rover HSE is a 380-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. It delivers 40 more hp than the previous model.

Other upgrades include a standard rear-camera wash system and a new Surround Camera System with four cameras to improve the driver's visibility.

The updated 2016 Range Rover lineup also goes on sale this fall.

Edmunds says: SUV shoppers with deep pockets will want to put this special Range Rover at the top of their shopping lists.
