MAHWAH, New Jersey — The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HST Limited Edition SUV, a midrange offering designed to give car shoppers more choices in the lineup, debuted ahead of the 2015 New York Auto Show.
The HST features an upgraded 380-horsepower 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and slots in between the entry-level 340-hp Range Rover Sport with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and the high-end 550-hp Range Rover Sport with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.
Jaguar Land Rover said pricing and availability on the new model will be announced later this year.
The HST Limited Edition gets a unique exterior design that features darkened exterior lights, a Santorini Black contrast roof and new spoiler. The new model also gets 21-inch alloy wheels in a dark satin grey finish.
The cabin is outfitted with Oxford leather and a black headliner.
In addition to the HST Limited Edition, Jaguar Land Rover announced upgrades to the 2016 Range Rover Sport, "with an emphasis on improved connectivity and capability."
Land Rover is introducing its 3.0-liter Td6 turbocharged V6 diesel engine to North America. The engine delivers 254 hp and 440 pound-feet of torque. It is estimated to deliver 22 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway.
Also new for 2016 is the Land Rover InControl Remote app. This app lets customers interact with the vehicle using a smartphone. They can check the fuel level and remotely lock and unlock the SUV.
A hands-free gesture tailgate is now standard on the 2016 Range Rover Sport.
Pricing on the entire lineup will be available later this year.
