MAHWAH, New Jersey — The 2016 Jaguar F-Type R coupe featuring standard all-wheel drive will debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show and arrive at Jaguar's U.S dealerships next spring, Jaguar Land Rover said on Thursday.
Pricing was not announced. Full details on the 2016 F-Type model range will be revealed on November 19. The F-Type model range will grow from six to 12 derivatives in the 2016 model year.
The F-Type R with what Jaguar is calling "instinctive" all-wheel drive sprints from zero-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph.
The new model is designed to "provide F-Type R drivers with improved traction and confidence in a variety of road conditions," the automaker said.
"Our target with engineering the all-wheel-drive F-Type was to maintain the engaging rear-drive character that's so important to Jaguar sports cars, yet offer even greater dynamic capability," said Ian Hoban, Jaguar vehicle line director, in a statement.
The upcoming Los Angeles auto show will also host the North American debut of the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport compact SUV.
The automaker also said it will make a new technology announcement for its in-car infotainment system at the Connected Car Expo, which is held in conjunction with the auto show.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers in the Snow Belt should be thrilled about an all-wheel-drive version of the Jaguar F-Type R.
