2016 Honda Pilot Ad Campaign Focuses on Family-Friendly Features

TORRANCE, California — The all-new 2016 Honda Pilot SUV is taking on the competition through a new advertising campaign that focuses on its family-friendly features.

The Pilot, which is on sale now at Honda dealerships, competes with the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder.

"The Incredible Pilot Elite" commercial puts the Pilot in a variety of scenarios to show its versatility.

A second spot, dubbed "Even Better," is directed by Jason Reitman, and speaks to "shared family moments." Reitman directed Juno and Up in the Air.

The commercial features Weezer's "Buddy Holly," a song that Honda said is aimed at the Pilot's target buyers who now have "families of their own."

The third-generation Pilot sheds the upright, blocky profile of its predecessors and fosters more of a family resemblance with the best-selling Honda CR-V.

Edmunds says: The new Honda Pilot ad campaign looks like the right approach for luring families into Honda showrooms.
