2016 Honda Odyssey Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Honda Odyssey minivan earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Honda dealerships, the Odyssey earned five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Odyssey includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, antilock brakes, brake assist and a rearview camera. Forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems are standard on Odyssey EX-L, Touring and Touring Elite models.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Odyssey, a carryover model. But the 2015 Odyssey earned the IIHS 2015 Top Safety Pick award, receiving "good" scores in all crash tests.

Key Odyssey competitors include the Chrysler Town & Country, Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna have not been rated by NHTSA.
