2016 Honda Civic Sedan Production Begins, With Showroom Debut Set for November

GREENSBURG, Indiana — Production of the redesigned 2016 Honda Civic compact sedan began on Tuesday at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, with a debut at Honda dealerships set for November.

The 10th-generation Civic sedan targets a long list of competitors, including the Audi A3, Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf.

The 2016 Civic sedan starts at $19,475, including an $835 destination charge.

This is the most ambitious remake of the Civic ever, Honda said.

The Civic sedan is the first in a series of 2016 Civic models that will include a sedan, coupe, high-performance Civic Si models, an all-new Civic five-door hatchback and the first Civic Type R for the U.S. market.

Honda's Greensburg, Indiana assembly plant received $97 million in upgrades during the past three years to adopt new manufacturing processes and technologies to boost the quality and delivery of its vehicles, Honda said in a statement.

The Civic is also being built at a Honda plant in Alliston, Ontario for the North American market.

The Civic is Honda's all-time best-selling model globally. Cumulative U.S. sales of the Civic total more than 10.2 million cars since 1973.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers in this popular segment get the signal that the 2016 Honda Civic sedan will begin shipping to Honda dealerships shortly.
