DEARBORN, Michigan — The 2016 Ford Focus RS high-performance hatchback will arrive at Ford dealerships in spring 2016, after a U.S. debut next week at the 2015 New York Auto Show, Ford confirmed on Wednesday.
Ford provided car shoppers with more details about the U.S.-spec Focus RS, including the exterior color choices. They include RS-exclusive Nitrous Blue, along with Stealth Gray, Shadow Black and Frozen White.
The hot hatch will feature a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that will deliver "in excess of 315 horsepower," the automaker said. The engine is linked to a six-speed manual transmission. Final performance specifications will be released later.
Other details include an all-wheel-drive system and a number of drive modes, including an industry-first drift mode. This mode is "specially calibrated for all-wheel drive to modify torque distribution to help the driver achieve controlled oversteer drifts at the track," Ford said.
Exterior cues include a roof spoiler, a new front end and bi-xenon HID headlights. The cabin gets partial-leather Recaro sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and alloy pedals.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers in the U.S. will get their first look at the Focus RS in the Big Apple.
