DEARBORN, Michigan — The updated 2016 Ford Explorer starts at $31,595, including an $895 destination charge, reflecting no price increase over the base 2015 model, said Ford as it released detailed pricing on its popular SUV. The wraps came off the 2016 Explorer at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show last week.

Ford's Explorer gets revised exterior styling, a new engine option, updated safety features and a new top end trim level. All of its exterior and interior dimensions remain unchanged. A new Platinum trim level is now the top-of-the-line model in the lineup. It's a fully loaded Explorer with unique trim features and a standard EcoBoost V6 engine and four-wheel drive.
The 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum model starts at $53,495, including shipping.
The midlevel 2016 Ford Explorer XLT model starts at $34,295, including shipping, reflecting a $400 price increase over the 2015 model. The 2016 Explorer Limited starts at $42,195, including shipping, for a price increase of $3,100 over the 2015 model.
The 2016 Explorer Sport starts at $44,195, reflecting a $200 price increase over the 2015 model.
