2016 Ford E-Series Recalled for Trailer Brake Controller Problem

DEARBORN, Michigan Ford is recalling 83 2016 Ford E-Series cutaway and chassis cab vehicles in North America to fix a problem with the trailer brake controller, the automaker said on Wednesday.

"Under certain conditions, a driver may lose trailer braking function at a stop, which could result in extended braking distance, increasing the risk of a crash," said Ford in a statement. "Vehicle braking is not affected."

No injuries or accidents have been linked to the recall.

Ford dealers will update the powertrain control module software. The recall is expected to begin on February 22. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.

Edmunds says: If you own one of these vehicles, it's a good idea to stay in touch with your Ford dealer for the most up-to-date information.
