DETROIT — Car shoppers got another look at the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan on Wednesday, courtesy of a teaser photo released by General Motors ahead of a June 24 unveiling.
GM said it is aiming for a more sophisticated look for the Cruze, which competes with the Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta.
The Cruze will be "larger yet lighter than the current model, with new technologies, new powertrains and additional safety features that will bring a higher level of sophistication to the compact car segment," GM said in a statement.
The new Cruze will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships in early 2016, GM said.
Pricing has not been announced.
In early May, spy photos revealed during what appeared to be a commercial photo shoot, revealed a redesigned exterior with front and rear styling cues from the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.
"Compact car customers are looking for style, safety and connectivity at an affordable price and the Cruze delivers on all fronts," said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and global Chevrolet brand chief.
The debut of the Cruze will cap a major product push for Chevrolet. The Cruze joins the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, Spark, Malibu and Camaro. All were unveiled earlier this year.
