With the arrival of the all-new 2016 Camaro at dealerships last month, interest in Chevy's iconic four-seat sports model is as strong as ever, and now fans of both the latest sixth-generation version and classic Camaros can express themselves with the unique apparel from one of Detroit's hottest young clothing designers.
"With the all-new Camaro, the team set out to transcend the traditional 'pony car' and deliver a world-class performance car, regardless of segment," said Steve Majoros, marketing director for Chevrolet cars, in a statement. "The Camaro is a worthy contender for any performance car, which is perfectly summed up by Tommey Walker's trademark design."
In 2012 Walker launched his "Detroit vs. Everybody" collection, intended to help rebuild the image of a city he felt was being overlooked, despite its historical and ongoing contributions to music, culture and the automotive industry.
Since then, Walker's T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and hats have been seen on television celebrities, sports stars and music figures, and the collection has expanded to include apparel with such slogans as "USA vs. Everybody," "Everybody vs. Injustice," "Everybody vs. Autism" and "Everybody vs. Ignorance."
Now, with the introduction of the "Camaro vs. Everybody" products, Walker pays tribute to a vehicle that has been of one of his city's most popular sports models since its debut in 1967.
"Detroit vs. Everybody started as a way to express pride in my hometown," said Walker. "Camaro vs. Everybody serves the same purpose for Camaro fans, who know their favorite sports car is second to none."
Of course, cars and clothing are a natural fit.
Edmunds says: Camaro's chief rival, the Ford Mustang, is the basis for a line of T-shirts and baseball caps, although they are not as in-your-face as the Camaro vs. Everybody fashion statement.
