2016 Buick Verano Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Buick Verano sedan earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Scores for the 2016 Buick Verano include five stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The 2016 Verano is expected to arrive at Buick dealerships later this summer.

Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Verano includes 10 airbags, electronic stability control, antilock brakes and a rearview camera.

An optional Driver's Confidence package on Verano 1SG, 1SL and 1ST models includes side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision alert and lane-departure warning systems.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Verano, a carryover vehicle. But the 2015 Verano earned "good" scores in all Institute crash tests.

Key competitors to the Verano include the Acura ILX, Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score may want to note that the 2016 Acura ILX and 2016 Audi A3 also earned the top five-star rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class has not been rated.
