DETROIT — The 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring, a new version of the compact SUV with an all-new 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, will arrive at Buick dealerships this fall, GM said on Monday.
The engine delivers an estimated 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque "for about 11 percent more horsepower and nearly 20 percent more torque than the Encore's standard engine," the automaker said in a statement.
The engine is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Stop-start technology, which automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop under certain driving conditions, is part of the powertrain package.
Buick spokesman Nick Richards told Edmunds that pricing will be announced later.
The Encore Sport Touring model also features a winged rear spoiler, 18-inch aluminum premium-finish wheels and body-color door handles.
Other standard items include a rearview camera, 10 airbags and heated outside mirrors.
Edmunds says: Buick says that car shoppers seeking a "more spirited take" on the Encore should check out this new version.
