2016 Buick Encore Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Buick Encore SUV earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The carryover 2016 Encore, which is on sale now at Buick dealerships, received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Encore.

Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, a rearview camera and 10 airbags, including driver and front passenger knee airbags. Optional safety features include blind-spot, forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Encore. But the 2015 Encore is an IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2015, earning ?good? scores in all crash tests.

Key Encore competitors include the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Volkswagen Tiguan.

Edmunds says: The Buick Encore's reputation as a small and sensible little SUV is bolstered by top safety ratings.
