2016 Buick Enclave Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Buick Enclave SUV earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2016 Enclave, a carryover vehicle, received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Enclave, which is expected to arrive at Buick dealerships this summer.

Standard safety features on the 2016 Enclave include stability control, traction control, panic brake assist, a rearview camera and seven airbags, including a front center airbag. It deploys between the driver and front passenger in the event of a crash.

Optional safety features include side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert, along with forward-collision alert.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 Enclave, but the 2015 Enclave earned "good" scores in all Institute crash tests.

Key Enclave competitors include the Acura MDX, Hyundai Santa Fe and Lincoln MKT.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2016 Acura MDX earned the top five-star safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and Lincoln MKT have not been rated.
