DETROIT — The all-new 2016 Buick Cascada, a midsize convertible designed to boost the brand's cachet among car shoppers, starts at $33,990, including a $925 destination charge, Buick announced on Wednesday.
The soft-top Cascada arrives at Buick dealerships in early 2016. It gives the Buick brand significant ammunition against import competitors in this category, including the Audi A3 Cabriolet, BMW 2 Series convertible and Lexus IS 250 C.
"When it goes on sale early next year, the Cascada will offer more standard content, a more powerful standard engine and a lower starting price than the Audi A3 Cabriolet," Buick said in a statement.
The Cascada seats four adults and is equipped with a 200-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The convertible top lowers in 17 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph.
Standard features include dual-zone climate control, 20-inch aluminum wheels, a rearview camera and a seven-speaker premium audio system.
A top-of-the-line Cascada Premium model starts at $36,990, including shipping.
It adds several items, including forward-collision alert, lane-departure warning and front and rear air deflectors.
Edmunds says: The 2016 Cascada was one of the stars at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Expect Buick's new, affordably priced drop top to shake up showrooms in the coming year.
