2016 BMW M2 Gets Launched With Help From Supermodel Gigi Hadid

MUNICH, Germany — The all-new 2016 BMW M2, the smallest BMW high-performance coupe to wear the legendary "M" badge, is getting a major marketing push from supermodel Gigi Hadid.

The M2 arrived at BMW dealerships on April 16 with a $52,695 price tag. The price includes a $995 destination charge.

A new YouTube video featuring the supermodel in a "shell game" with the M2 grabbed more than 3 million views in less than a week.

The video is part of an interactive marketing campaign for the car.

BMW said Hadid is the face of the global campaign for the M2 coupe.

"Gigi and the M2 are the perfect match," said BMW spokesman Uwe Dreher in a statement. "Both are strong personalities with fascinating charisma."

The rear-wheel-drive M2 targets the Audi TTS, Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and Porsche Cayman. It replaces the short-lived BMW 1 Series M coupe.

Details include a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that delivers 365 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque, along with a standard auto stop-start function designed to conserve fuel.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission is optional.

Edmunds says: It will be a lot easier to keep your eye on the new BMW M2 in the showroom.
