2016 Audi Q5 Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2016 Audi Q5 midsize luxury SUV earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Five stars is the highest rating.

On sale now at Audi dealerships, the Q5 earned four stars in the front crash test, five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The overall safety rating also applies to the sporty 2016 Audi SQ5 and the 2016 Audi Q5 Hybrid.

All 2016 Audi Q5s come with stability and traction control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. Rear side airbags are a stand-alone option, while the Technology package includes parking sensors, a rearview camera and a blind-spot warning system.

The 2016 Q5 earned the 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, receiving "good" scores in all Institute crash tests.

Key Q5 rivals include the Acura RDX, BMW X3 and Lexus RX 350.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Acura RDX and BMW X3 earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Lexus RX 350 has not been rated.
