2016 Acura RDX Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The refreshed 2016 Acura RDX SUV earned the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Acura dealerships, the 2016 RDX received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the RDX.

Standard safety equipment on the RDX includes vehicle stability control with traction control, rearview camera, antilock brakes and six airbags.

All RDX models can now be equipped with the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety technologies, including lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking and lane-keeping assist systems.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not rated the 2016 RDX.

Key RDX competitors include the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Cadillac SRX.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should note that the 2016 Cadillac SRX also earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2016 Audi Q5 earned a four-star overall safety rating. The 2016 BMW X3 has not been rated.
