TORRANCE, California The redesigned 2016 Acura ILX, the brand's most affordable compact luxury sedan, will debut in November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The update will include "a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling and a substantially upgraded interior design," American Honda Motor Co. said in a statement on Monday.

The makeover will feature a "sharper performance focus."

The unveiling is set for November 20. Launch timing and pricing have not been announced.

The 2015 Acura ILX is on sale now at dealerships starting at $27,945, including an $895 destination charge.

Acura added more standard features to the ILX to make it more sophisticated.

Details include an eight-way power driver's seat and heated leather seats. The ILX is based on the Honda Civic platform.

Key competitors to the Acura ILX include the Audi A3, Buick Verano and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

Acura was recognized by Edmunds.com as leading all luxury brands in retained value after five years of ownership.

Edmunds says: Looks like Acura is getting more aggressive about moving the ILX away from its Civic roots and turning it into a true luxury car.
