BEIJING The face-lifted 2015 Volkswagen Touareg makes its world debut next week at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and goes on sale in the U.S. in early 2015.

Pricing has not been announced. The 2014 Volkswagen Touareg starts at $44,905, including a $910 destination charge.

The 2015 Touareg gets revised front- and rear-end styling, with upgrades to its interior and equipment.

The new face includes larger headlamps, plus revised grille and bumper. Bi-xenon headlamps are standard on all versions.

VW said interior trim and controls have been updated on the Touareg, which will offer new colors and wheels, as well as a new R-Line package. The R-Line will be offered in the U.S., said Mark Gillies, a Volkswagen of America spokesman, in response to an Edmunds query.

In the U.S., the 2015 Touareg will come with a choice of three engines: a 276-horsepower gasoline V6, a 236-hp TDI V6 and a 374-hp gasoline-electric hybrid.

Competitors to the Touareg include the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot and Toyota 4Runner.

Edmunds says: VW sees little need to dramatically overhaul a proven design.
