CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — Subaru of America wants the 2015 Subaru Legacy to be a major player in the midsize sedan category and is going after the competition with a new Web site and advertising blitz.

"Every sedan has its benefits," the Web site says. "One combines them all."

The new Web site allows car shoppers to compare the Legacy with other vehicles, including the 2015 Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima. Other competitors listed on the Web site include the 2014 Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Chevrolet Malibu and 2014.5 Toyota Camry.

The site features videos and detailed comparisons of the Legacy versus the competition.

As shoppers might expect, the Legacy beats the Fusion — one of the most popular midsize cars in America — in a detailed comparison on the Web site.

Subaru of America also is launching new Legacy TV commercials this month. In one commercial, called "The Fix," a child's radio-controlled toy car doesn't work. The father's solution is to hand the remote to his son and zip around in the Legacy as if the car is being controlled by the boy.

The 2015 Legacy has been completely redesigned. It arrives at U.S. dealerships this summer.

The 2015 Legacy starts at $22,490, including a $795 destination charge.

Edmunds says: Of course, the Legacy Web site is not an independent comparison, but car shoppers may have some fun pitting the sedan against some of its toughest competition.
