AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — FCA US is recalling an estimated 3,912 2015 Ram ProMaster City cargo and passenger vans in North America to remove a section of tape that may prevent the side curtain airbags from fully deploying, the automaker said.
"FCA US engineers conducted a routine test to evaluate component function and discovered the tape, which helps accommodate airbag installation during vehicle assembly, may prevent the devices from deploying fully," it said in a statement.
There are no injuries, accidents or customer complaints linked to the recall.
No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.
Edmunds says: Owners of these vehicles may want to schedule an appointment with their dealership now to get this problem fixed.
